Well, not exactly but more or less… Jokes apart, Minimalism is a nice and simple way to live life to the fullest.
What is Minimalism?
How do I become a Minimalist?
As Leo rightly says, there is no defined way to become a minimalist. But here are some suggestions, which I personally try to follow.
- Before you buy anything, ask this question to yourself – “Is this really needed at this point in time?” – If the answer is no, try and postpone
- Perform a periodical review of material things that you possess. If you find something unnecessary or avoidable, then try the best way to get rid off it (donate it to someone who may need it and so on)
- Try to do things the simple way (Examples: Taking a bus to work vs Driving a car, Eating in an expensive restaurant vs Cooking, Buying too many books vs Membership at a Public Library…)
- Clear off your Debts (this includes Credit Card Bills and Loans, as much as possible)
Coming back to the title of this post – a Minimalist is not a Saint.
A Minimalist is a person who can take a conscious decision on what he wants to possess and what he can live without.
Is being a minimalist part of your new year goal? If not, I recommend you to consider it.
