Sustainable Creativity. That’s something I call a “catchy name”. The moment you hear it, you are curious to know more about it – don’t you?
I was referred to Michael’s blog by my good friend Shirupa, while working on my book – Six Productivity Mojos. She invited me to visit Sustainably Creative and was sure that I would like it. She was absolutely right!
Like every one of us, Michael has limited energy. In fact, way too limited because of a condition named Myalgic Encephalopathy (or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). This condition makes the person feel extremely tired even after moderate amount of physical exertion. Instead of feeling bogged down, Michael exploited the constraint and turned extremely productive with efficient use of his limited energy. And, all the strategies he used are described in his excellent book – Sustainable Creativity.
At 90 pages, it is not a short book but very easy to read. It is organized into small sections and as he advises, it is good to consume one section at a time. Here is the summary of the book in his own words.
- Work little and often
- Be kind to yourself and accept your limits
- Remember to recognize and celebrate your achievements
It is worth a read this weekend and you’ll learn creative ways to make the best use of your energy.
